Sheep

Sheep represent a species of animals with great adaptability and they especially exploit the pastures. The useful economic life of a sheep is approximately eight years, depending on the environmental conditions, the way of exploitation and the characteristics of the breed.

 

Romania is on the 3rd place in Europe with a flock of approximately 9.5 million sheep. The special taste of the meat of animals raised organically on the pastures of this country is recognized and appreciated both in Europe and the Middle East.

 

In Romania, the predominant breeds are: Turcana, Tigaie, Merinos de Palas. Feeding is strictly supervised in order to obtain the best yields, satisfying the animals’ needs at the same time. Worldwide, sheep are raised for milk, meat and wool.
