Global poultry meat production has expanded, but at the slowest level since 1960, reaching 133 million tonnes in 2022, up 1.3% from the previous year.

Given the rather difficult production and trade environment this sector has encountered during the health crisis and outbreaks of avian flu in some European countries, access to chicken meat has not been hindered.

The relative accessibility of poultry meat and the short production cycle were two factors that contributed to a better performance of this sector.
