Global pork production in 2022 was estimated at 101 million tons – down slightly by 0.8% from the previous year, mainly due to ASF-induced product contractions in China, the Philippines and Vietnam.
This sector suffered mainly from swine fever. Government assistance and investment in new farms with increased biosecurity has been the main factor in the faster recovery.
World pork trade reached 12 million tons in 2022, up 24.5% compared to the previous year. Imports to Asian countries doubled to 5.7% million tons, representing approximately half of global imports.
